In The Name Of Allah, The Most Compassionate, The Most Merciful

PREACHING OF MANKIND IN
THE HOLY QURAAN (18)

"THE RESULTS OF TESTING THE NONBELIEVERS OF JINN CREATION"

In the Name of Allah: No Assistance except from Him. Our praise to Allah: No Gratitude except for Him. Glories to You my Lord: You Created me and I am in full obedience to Your Command. I hold my covenant to You by whatever is in my power. I bear witness that there is no Deity except Allah. I send my prayers and greetings to the best among all creatures Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the Messenger of peace who received the last message of the heavens to guide the worlds and delivered Allah's Integrated Legislation and Wisdom in a perfect manner.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Islam, I greet you by the greeting of Islam: Asslamu Alikum Wa Rahmetu Allah Wa Barakath:

In a continuation of the subject of Preaching of Mankind in the Holy Quraan, today Inshaa Allah, I will reflect on the seventh topic related to the scene comprising Allah, some Angels, Adam and Iblis, that is:

The results of testing the nonbelievers of the Jinn creation.

Out of the Mercy of Allah, all the ways of temptation of Satan (Shitan) to human beings were shown as the temptations of Iblis to Adam and his wife in the garden of training. The other ways of Shitan to pull human beings to his way are taken from his statements while he was responding to the Reminders of Allah, which were mentioned in the last Khutba. These statements are the topic of today: In Sura # 7 Al-Aaraf, Verses # 16-17, Iblis Responds to Allah's Reminder by saying:

"Iblis said: Because You (My Lord) Has Built in me the choice to believe or disbelieve, I will lie in, wait for Mankind on their straight path.
Then will I assault them from before them and behind them, from their right and their left, nor will You (Allah) find in most of them gratitude for the Mercies of You (Allah)."

A lot of teachings in these two Verses are offered to Muslims to learn for themselves and transfer to others:

First: Iblis knows his capabilities and knows also that without the Grant of Allah to have the choice to obey or disobey, he cannot choose to be a disbeliever. If Allah Intends to Make him an obedient to His Commands he cannot resist. This part of the Verse is stated to teach us that Shitan is not superior and he is still Controlled by His Creator Almighty Allah.

Second: The places which Shitan will go to are the places of Ibadat. Shitan will not go to a bar where humans are disobeying Allah by drinking. The people in the bar are helping him and they do not need the influence of Shitan to disobey. Similarly Shitan will not visit all the places where people are taking his place by breaking any of the Commands of Allah. But Shitan will accompany the believers where they pray. He will be always whispering in their ears to spoil their Salat. When Muslims intend to pay charity or Zakat, to fast at any time or to perform Hajj, Shitan will always be with them forcing the doubts into their minds, discouraging them to do any righteous deeds for the fear of poverty, lack of resources or health. This part of the Verse is given as a reminder to Muslims:

Don't listen to Shitan and perform the righteous deeds as soon as it crosses your mind and Allah Will Make it up for you as long as your intentions are to Please Allah.

Third: Out of the Mercy of Allah, the sources of temptations of human beings by Iblis were stated as a warning taken from Iblis' statement. Shitan will approach Muslims from four directions: The front side, the backside, the right side and the left side.

While Iblis believed in himself that he is better and more clever than human beings; this part of the Verse shows the contrary. He showed Muslims his directions of assault. Here are some reflections on that:

  1. Iblis stated four directions of temptations and we know that the directions generally are six. The two directions, which Iblis did not dare to mention as directions of his temptation, are the upward and downward directions.
The upward is the direction from where Muslims Receive the Guidance of Allah and the downward is the direction of Sujud where Muslims become very Close to Allah.
If Muslims are keen to counteract the temptations of Shitan; these two directions should be their only approaches in their worldly life. If Muslims will keep following and obeying what Comes from Allah and Prostrate themselves in thankfulness to Him on His Bounties, Shitan will not have any influence on them.
  2. These four directions mentioned as the directions of assault on human beings by Shitan are the same four directions exporting profanity (Abandonment of religious faith) to all Mankind throughout the history. This group or party are rightist and the others are leftist. This group belongs to the progressive party and the others are from the reactionary.
Muslims are rightist and leftist whenever these directions are within the frame of the Quraan and the Sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH). Muslims belong to the progressive or the reactionary parties whenever these ideologies are within the Commands of Allah.
  3. In addition to these four directions and above all of them, Muslims are continuously an upward and prostrating Ummah. All our Commands and Directions are Revealed from upward from Almighty Allah and all our Gratitude are expressed when we put our foreheads parallel to the lowest part of our feet.

The last part of the Verse "nor will you (Allah) find in most of them Gratitude for the Mercies of you (Allah)", this is the plan of Shitan represented by Iblis to spoil this attitude of Muslims to be an upward and prostrating Ummah. His assault is to make believers forget about Their Creator; forget that all the Bounties they are living with are from Allah's Sustenance.

Iblis knows for sure that his plan will not work with all human beings; this is why he mentioned, "the most of mankind will not be grateful to Allah". This is explained in another response of Iblis to Allah's Reminder in Sura # 15, Verses # 39-40, where Iblis says:

"Iblis said: O' my Lord, because You (Allah) Has Given me the choice to believe or disbelieve, I will adorn the path of error for human beings in the earth, and I will mislead everyone of them. Except such of them as are the perfectly devoted and Chosen by You (Their Lord)."

Iblis cannot be straight or truthful even before Allah. By his own arrogance and rebellion he fell in spite of the Repeated Reminders of Allah as I explained last Khutba.

In this Verse Allah Shows us one of the ways of temptation of Shitan. Iblis stated that one of his ways is to decorate the sins and give disobedience a deceiving shape, benefit or advantage to Mankind. But he showed that he is powerless against Allah's Will and he turns therefore against human beings. Iblis excluded the sincere people.

To be sincere in the Worship of Allah is to obtain purification from all stain of evil and exemption from all influence of Shitan. It changes the whole nature of human being. After that, evil cannot touch him/her. Shitan will acknowledge him/her to be beyond his power and will not even tempt him/her. Apart from such purified souls, everyone who Worships Allah invites Allah's Grace to Protect him/her. But if he/she puts him/herself in the way of wrong and deliberately chooses evil, he/she must take the consequences as I explained last Khutba. The blame in this case is not even on Shitan or the power of evil, it is on the sinner him/herself who puts him/herself into the power of Shitan.

Another ways of temptation and consequences of following Shitan is stated in Sura # 17 Al-Israa, Verses # 62-65, where Iblis says in an argument with Allah:

"Iblis said, You (Allah) See, this is (Adam), the one whom You (Allah) Has Honored above me! If You (Allah) Will Give me time to the Day of Judgment, I will surely bring his descendants under my way, all but a few. Allah Said: Go your way Iblis, if any of the humans follow you, verily Hell will be the recompense of you (all). An ample recompense. And excite those whom you can among them with your seductive voice; make assaults on them with your cavalry and your infantry; mutually share with them wealth and children; and make promises to them; But Shitan promises them nothing but to deceive. As for My faithful bondmen, No authority shall you have over them and Your Lord is Enough as Their Guardian."

Here, Allah Ran this dialog with Iblis to give Mankind the whole picture of their struggle with Shitan and his followers and how they can protect themselves.

The challenge and enmity is presented clearly by Iblis. Mankind, represented by Adam, was the reason of his expulsion forever from among Angels-status, and forever he will take as much as he can of human beings to his way. The reason as Iblis' assessment was: Why should he become the only one expelled from the Mercy of Allah?

Iblis knows his power and knows that he cannot do that without the Permission of Allah to Leave him to the Day of Judgment. And here comes the big question frequently asked by our youth:

Is Allah leaving Shitan to tempt human beings while He (Almighty) is able to forbid him?

The answer is simple: how would you like it if you spent all your year long studying and at the end of the year your grades are the same as one of your friends who did not spend any effort at all during the year?

Allah Leaves the temptation of Shitan to Test human beings:

  • Who can control himself in spite of Shitan?
  • What will be the ratings of human beings in resisting the temptation?
  • Based on these ratings human beings will get their equivalent levels of reward on the Day of Judgment.

Moreover, the power of Shitan over humans is due to their free will. That is, humans hand themselves to Shitan. As to those who loyally Worship and Serve Allah, Shitan has no power on them.

After this part of the dialog, Allah Warns those who follow Shitan about the punishment that will be severe on the Day of Judgment.

Then, Allah Presents another arsenal of weapons which the Shitan will use against Mankind, so that humans would avoid them:

  • FIRST: The one that is put in the foreground is the voice, the seductive personal appeal that makes the worse appear to be the better part.
  • SECOND: An attack is made in force with weapons of violence of all kinds like the different arms in an organized army.
  • THIRD: If the previous assaults are resisted, Shitan has other weapons like:
    1. Tangible fruits are dangled before the eyes.
    2. Ill-gotten gains and children of sin
    3. Children dedicated to sin or worldly gains
    4. And on top of that, there are all kinds of promises for the future

And Allah reminds human beings: All the promises of Shitan are worthless.

Look at the international communities these days:

The majority fall under one or more of these categories. This is why; at the end of the Dialog between Allah and Shitan, Allah Reminds Mankind again:

  • Shitan has no power except over those who yield to his solicitations.
  • As Shitan has no authority over the sincere believers; they should put their trust completely in Allah. He Almighty Is All-Sufficient to Carry out their affairs and, by His Grace, to Save believers from all harm or danger.

I hope and pray that we all remember to take the Side of Allah to Save us from all harm or danger and avoid the side of Shitan in all our deeds.

Ask Allah forgiveness and be sure that He, Almighty Will Respond and Reward you.

Praise be to Allah:

"Who Forgiveth Sin, Accepteth Repentance, Is Severe in Punishment, and Is all-Bountiful. There is no god But He: to Him Is the Final Goal."(40-3)

I ask Allah to shower His Peace and Prayers on Prophet Muhammad, his family and all his companions.

Dear Muslims:

The last Dialog between Allah and Iblis I will mention today is stated in Sura # 38 Saad, Verses # 82-83, where Iblis says:

"Iblis said: by Your Might (Allah), I will lead them all astray, Except those among them who are sincere and purified by Your Grace."

Iblis swears here by the fact that all human beings and Jinn, whether they are all righteous or sinners will not affect the throne of Allah. From this knowledge Iblis knew how to swear.
The teaching here is: every person is granted the free will to obey or disobey. Which way he/she will go, Allah Will Not Get any benefit or loss. Muslims should think again before they commit a sin, do a mistake or disobey Allah in any of their dealings with others:

  • You will benefit or hurt yourself and yourself alone if you disobey.
  • And you will live in the Protection of Allah Shielded by His Might and Power against Shitan and his followers, if you obey.

I hope and pray that all of us will be under the Protection and Shield of Allah in this life and in the Hereafter.

I will pray and ask Allah, Please say Amen
